Janet G asked:
This Friday, my husband and I will be traveling to the UK, and unfortunately have a 4 hour layover at Dublin. He’s a beer afficiando, I’m a foodie. Is there at least a good pub in the area that we could visit while waiting, rather than sit and be bored at the airport? Any recommendations would be really appreciated… (PS: saw the earlier post on the 7 hour layover, but wanted to ask my own, since our time is significantly less…) Thanx..!

Eek **** to break it to you, but dublin airport is a good hour out of dublin, and there really isnt anything near by except cargo companie and the garda, and the airport aint great either, I suggest you go to the food area get yourself something to eat and find a comfy seat and read a magazine or book.

Swords is a village in County Dublin that’s fairly close to the airport, you’ll probably find a nice pub there, but you don’t say what time of the day you’ll be arriving and some pubs don’t open until later in the day.
I would agree that you’d be better off staying at the airport, to be honest.

Stay in the airport, you wont have enough time to go very far and if the traffic is bad you could miss your flight. There are a few bars in the airport that are ok and there is a good food hall where you can get different options. This website will help…

I’m not sure about right near the airport as it’s a bit of a ways out of the city centere. And for a 4 hour lay over, you’d be better off staying at the airport due to traffic and stuff at the airport. Otherwise ask one of the workers at the airport if there’s anything near by that a cab could get you to in 5 or 10 minutes, or within a quick walk. It also depends on what time of day your lay over is. Some pubs are just pubs and have pre-made sandwichs. Just an FYI in case you’re looking for something hot.

Your just beside Swords, but like everyone else is saying your best to stay in the airport (you can go to the airport pub, its alright!). Seeing as now people are expected to be there 2 to 3 hours before the flight, by the time you get somewhere you would have to leave and go back to the airport (you don’t want to get stuck in dublin)
