No you don’t need your passport to go from Northern Ireland to Ireland, just some form of ID eg age card or drivers license

  • Rafique 1 Says:

They will not check your passport.

  • Mr. Hello Says:

They should do as you are going into a different country, however they don’t really bother as it’s practically the same country (well it used to be).

So if you can’t find it, don’t worry just take any other ID you may have or don’t bother, the worst thing that could happen is that they say no, but I doubt it
    Have a nice time :-)

  • Penfold Says:

No. Agreements between Ireland and the UK prevent immigation checks between the two countries. However, do take some identification as security checks may occur.

  • Irish Says:

Yeah and you need a visa too……lol Seriously! No, you don’t need a passport.

Once you board the train in Belfast, it is non stop to Dublin. No one gets on or off, there are no customs or any other checks at either end. You don’t need an ID, but it would be useful in the event of an emergency.

There will be no checks what so ever!

I’ve done the Dublin/Belfast train and bus route several time and I have never been asked for ID!

  • slipstreamer Says:

    No

  • GreenBrigade Says:

you dont need a passport but now n again the immigration police come on the buses and trains to check id…if you go by bus sometimes they’re parked in a red van just after newry but I’ve never encountered them on the train so you should be ok

No, a driver’s licence will suffice.

  • Wishing Well Says:

Your passport will not be checked and they will not even ask for one as one is not required so you go and enjoy yourself.
